We believe the best gift you can give children is to introduce them to nature, outdoor activities, sport.
Below are just some of the importance of being involved within sport:
• Sports experiences help building positive self-esteem in children. In addition, participating sports can be a helpful way of reducing stress and increasing feelings of physical and mental well-being.
• Children working as a team to reach a common goal helps children develop communication and problem solving skills that will benefit them on the field and off. Exercise is a great way for kids to loosen up and let go. Sports also help kids develop tight bonds with their team or club friends which will provide them with a support system.
• Youth sports are a fun way to increase a child's physical activity level and develop lifelong habits for good health. Sports help kids to develop self-control, persistence, and accountability.
• Development from sport goes beyond learning new physical skills. Sport helps children develop better ways to cope with the highs and lows of life. When they're playing sport, children learn to lose. Playing sport helps children learn to control their emotions and channel negative feelings in a positive way.
The Dublin Mountain Running Club is based within the Glencullen Mountain Range.
